Limbering Up for Learning is a process designed to improve
the learning "fitness" of individuals and organisations.

Before tailoring a personalised workout, a good quality fitness centre checks out its potential users' fitness, previous experience, desired outcomes and likes and dislikes. Yet when it comes to mental rather than physical 'jerks' we rarely take the time to understand what our strengths are and what makes us switch off and stop learning.

Limbering Up for Learning enables people to assess their own fitness when it comes to learning and create strategies so that they can get the best from any learning situation.

Limbering Up for Learning is made up of three key elements

WARM UP / WORK OUT / FLEX AND TONE

WARM UP enables people to discover

  • their present state of fitness as a learner
  • what turns them on and what switches them off as a learner
  • what helps them to learn effectively
  • what their blocks are when it comes to learning and how to address those blocks

and helps them

  • develop a learning strategy that suits them
  • create a warm up routine that they can use in all learning situations

WORK OUT focuses on discovering what learning means to the individual and what it takes for them to commit to learning something.
It explores

  • how they view the future
  • how information is taken in and processed
  • setting outcomes and objectives that they are committed to achieving
  • approaches and techniques for planning learning

FLEX AND TONE reviews progress thus far

  • refines their self-knowledge as a learner
  • builds a toolbox of practical learning strategies, techniques and tools.

The three areas of WARM UP - WORK OUT - FLEX AND TONE are
integral to any Limbering Up for Learning activity that we undertake but, as you would expect, the approach will be tailored to meet the learner's / organisation's needs.
